Wife took this photo of a kitten, at my neighbors cabin.

Image

Did a bit of Fractalius, and G'MIC magic to it, and ended up with this. Kinda like the result:

The same with green eyes. Like the blue better, but, just to be different:

I like it, I think the green eyes are a bit more "cat-like".

I agree, albeit a bit too bright of a green. But hey, it's art, haha.

Here's one I did using G'Mic's Graphic Boost filter.

Before Graphic Boost.

After Graphic Boost.

I must admit, the settings I used make the effect very subtle.

It seems that anything that darkens it up a bit looks better.

That makes the metal bit stand out more, compared to others.

Personally, before any attempt at playing with funky filters, I would:
1) straighten up the picture (post should be vertical)
2) crop it to square or vertical format (to remove the uninteresting gravel on the left).
3) remove the chair/foot in the background
4) attenuate/decontrast/darken the metal fixture in the post.

the warrior: i like that! are you sort of gradually easing out of a binge here? you started with fractaliusing bigger cats and now you're down to kittens :hehe .
wallace: i like that too. graphic boost is a simple but useful filter, i think, i use it a lot.
dinasset: nice! i use freaky details a lot too. i can agree with ofnuts that it made too much of a fuss about that metal piece though.
lylejk: that's very good, almost believable as an engraving.

@david: isn't it better that way?

@dinasset: square format is cool too. However, a small defect in the "fixed" picture gets exacerbated by the later processing:

Thanks. I guess so, haha. Nah, I just liked that photo. The neighbors had two kittens, Silver, and Gravity, the one shown. They called it Gravity because it's back legs were sprawled out, and it couldn't walk right. It later came out of it, however, and can walk fine now.

BTW, I didn't want to crop it. I like it just the way it is. I like extra stuff in the background. Not everything in life is framed and symmetrical.

[align=center][align=center]Cropped, symmetrized. Cut the kitten out of the original picture and then blended layers.
Then I just ran dream smoothing.
