Hi all,
I uninstalled my older version of GIMP and GMIC to do a clean install with the newest versions. GIMP installed all right. But I can't get the GMIC installer to work. When I unzip the file and put its content in the Plugins directory of GIMP, GMIC doesn't show up in the Filters list. So I tried running the .exe file and then I get a series of errors:

this program can’t start because libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll is missing from your computer
this program can’t start because libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-0.dll is missing from your computer
this program can’t start because libgimp-2.0-0.dll is missing from your computer
this program can’t start because libgimpui-2.0-0.dll is missing from your computer

Any help with how to install this latest version of GMIC would be much appreciated.

my suggestion:
- clean the plugin directory from the G'MIC files you put in there
- dowload the installer version of G'MIC instead of the zip version
- run the downloaded .exe: it will install G'MIC appropriately

...afterwards you will find a folder called plug-in gmic under your ../Users/yourname/.gimp-2.8 folder; open Gimp Preferences and add a link to this folder (in the list of plug-ins folders)

However...
The reason why I decided to do a clean install of GIMP and GMIC was that when I tried to refresh the GMIC filters, I got the following error - and I still get the same error, so a reinstall didn't resolve it :-(

"Filters update from Internet(partially) failed! Unable to reach these filter sources:
gmic.eu/update1610.exe"

(it actually says https://etc but as a newbee apparently I'm not allowed to post URLs)

Any suggestions?

I copy/pasted the URL In the address bar of my browser ad it says "Not Found - The requested URL /update1610.gmic was not found on this server"

Is there any way to change the URL the "refresh" tries to connect with? And what should it be changed into?

current stable release is 1.6.8, thus the filters refresh shoul not call .../update1610...(?!)

I did a refresh just now and everything is OK
When you open G'MIC which version do you see on the top left area?

It says G'MIC for GIMP 1.6.1.0
Which I just donwloaded from GMIC and installed.
Weird.
It would seem that the old version on my computer is persistent.

go to gmic.eu and download the latest stable version (exe) 1.6.8

Yes, that's what I did. But I meanwhile also found the problem. I just realised that when I uninstalled GIMP, I forgot to also uninstall the Extension Pack. So now I uninstalled GIMP *and* the Extension Pack, and then reinstalled GIMP, Extension Pack and GMIC, and now everything works and I no longer get the error when I refresh the filters either. Strange, but it works. So all is well now.
