Using the BRL filter with a topo emap (chrome-1) and then a pattern overlay. I then removed the bg color of the pattern and ran reptile effect on its alpha alone. Interesting results.

Thank you Rod. Here my poor tries. My steps are: text; BRL Chrome; I create anew layer on with a pattern (yours); desature the pattern layer; new from visible; colour to alpha to apply on it Reptile Effect. I'm doing something wrong I'm afraid.

You don't need to de saturate the pattern. Just use select by color to grab the bg color on any pattern and make sure you added an alpha channel too the pattern layer. Now just delete or clear the selected color and run reptile on that layer only. Make all other layers invisible first. You can play with the layer modes after. Your results still are very unique though.

Yes the possibilities are endless. Unless you run out of patterns. Of course that won't happen.
