Hi all,
Don't know if you take requests here, but I figure it couldn't hurt to ask before I go and do this ~150 times :)

I'm doing work on the Alpha Channels for some game models, and the procedure I follow to get the best in-game result is as follows:

1) Select All
2) Colors->Desaturate (Luminosity)
3) Copy, Undo
4) Add Layer Mask -> Transfer Layer's Alpha Channel
5) Paste, Anchor, Apply Layer Mask
6) Overwrite current file.

Not a difficult process, but tedious as anything.

If someone could write me up a script or plug-in to do this, I'd be forever grateful.
I admit to knowing next to nothing about scripting in GIMP, so if what I'm asking for is too complex (or impossible), feel free to tell me to go away! :)

Regards,
Doug

maybe if you detail better the steps (for instance: 3=copy what? create a new image or a new layer?...etc), later I may give a try

edit: maybe you may add an example (xcf)

Taking your instructions at face value, I think you're going the long way round.

If you do this, do you get the same result?:

1) Add layermask - "Grayscale copy of layer"
2) Overwrite current file

Mate, you're a genius, that works great! :bigthup

Any idea of how I can do that in batch for all my images?
I've had a look at the BIMP plug-in, but I can't see a way of using it to do this.
From what I can gather, I now need a script to do what you described, and use BIMP to batch process my files with that script?
