How to Proper management the files I am adding to the GIMP

Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

Dear Friends

I need help managing the files that I add to my GIMP PORTABLE
Over the time I added quite a large number of files to GIMP.
Usually the files I add are plug-in or Scripts SCM.
After a while I can not remember all the files that I added to my old gimp.
I want to learn from you - When they announcing the new version of portable GIMP.
How do you transfer all the files to the new version of portable GIMP.

Create a back-up copy of all your user files.
Such as: Brushes, Scripts, Plugins etc.
To a flash drive or somewhere else for safe keeping.
Then you will have these file, so you can put them into any new version that might be released.

Realistically you are going to add to the resource folders up to the point of installing a newer version so i would suggest just copying the entire "preferences" folder to your USB drive. Then add new resources only to that copied directory and point GIMPs Edit>Preferences> Folders to that directory . This is called the "Swap Folder"

The (new swap folder) could be located on the same USB as your GIMP-portable version and that would work for portability. Then you need only delete the old version of your portable install the new version and GIMP should keep the rc files needed to see that swap folder automatically.
