Rectangle Select

Operating System: Windows
OS Version: 10, 32 bit
GIMP Experience: New User

My rectangle select is not making a selection any more. The ellipse select does but the rectangle one consistently looks like I have the text shortcut selected. I haven't...I have checked.
What would be the reason?

Hi.

Did you check what Mode is selected in the tool options of the Rectangle Select tool?

Ah, think I found the culprit. subtract selection was checked....is ok now. Thanks
