Sharing - Maori Symbols/Motifs Glass Brushes

I am surprised with the number of downloads of the glass fleur de lys brushes in less than 24 hours. So I thought that I would share some more glass brushes - this time symbols/motifs from the Maori culture in New Zealand.

Again they are clear glass, but as with yesterday's brushes they can be coloured/blended with any colour/pattern/gradient as desired ...

How do you get these to be coloured/blended with any colour/pattern/gradient as desired? Can you suggest a good tutorial? I am just learning to use GIMP.
