Thought I'd join in the fun :). I started this a few days ago as a landscape study but thought it would fit in here. Where the wind blows? In the mountains :).

@Artloader - Lovely painting! Landscapes aren't easy, well done!
Nice things everyone!

Here's what I came up with. Not sure if you can see it but there are swirls all around her that represents wind.
It took everything in me to not "cheat" and just draw something and then colorize to blue. I actually did everything in blue on it's own. I suppose it's for the best since colorizing generalizes a color.

I know the hands are awful, I must have spent 20 or 30 minutes just on the hands and the arm that is up trying to get them to look right, it wasn't working out but I had no other idea so I went with it. :lol

@Mewmaw: I like that! :D

Thanks! I like yours as well! I think the hands are fine!
(I'm a little jealous of people who can actually draw! My drawings never look like what they are supposed to be, so I don't draw.)
:D

I'd say about 60-80% of the things I draw don't come out how I want. Don't let that discourage you! Just have fun don't worry about it being "perfect". Perfection isn't really attainable anyway. :)

I agree with Moko, meemaw, go ahead and don't let your results stop yourself from continuing. Everything has its beauty. :)
Nice results of you all. I love them. :clap
I did a quick try for this thread.
Thank you Griatch, your thread is stimulating. :tyspin

That's a very good result. I like how you have worked with large solid blocks of colors to build the angles of the distant mountains; it gives a good feeling of lack-of-detail-through-distance so to speak. At first I didn't notice the little procession of people on the left, simple and interesting injection of a hint of a story into the image!

The coloration and pose reminds me a little of Sarah Connor's nuclear holocaust nightmare in Terminator 2. Well, except she's not on fire and screaming, but apart from that ... :)

Drawing directly in color has its own problems and challenges. It's sometimes fun but since one can so easily adjust colors with the color curve tools later anyway, I find it considerably less useful than when working on a real paper/canvas. Anyway, the final color scheme you arrived at does give a very "airy" feel together with the mosaic effects of the "sky" around her. Hands are always difficult and you have tried some pretty complex hand-poses here, perspective-wise. That said, they are not too bad I think, especially not as the image and character are both very stylized to begin with.

Like any craft, the only way to make your drawings look like they are supposed to be is to practice making them. ;)

Glad you enjoy the thread! A very theme-fitting piece of artwork too, nice light effect around the weather vane.

Okay so I didn't quite nail it how I wanted but I'm still somewhat happy with this.

This is based off of The Serpent and the Forbidden Fruit a belief in Christianity, and the myth of Pandora's Box.
Although not the same story, there are some things that resemble in them so I thought the combination would fit for the theme.

The snake is part of the painting of the box fading in to being truly alive. A real threat!
The box if you look close has an apple tree painted on it, this represents the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (most people say they ate an apple though it's unknown and somewhat irrelevant the result remains the same). Of course the box is supposed to represent Pandora's box, although in reality the box is really a jar we just call it a box. The apple tree on the box with the snake is kinda like BEWARE! But since we humans like to ruin things somebody will probably open it eventually... The snake is fighting the light.

Just a note, I hate snakes I hated drawing this snake and I hated the reference images I saw, I couldn't even look very long I noted what I wanted to know quite fast and got rid of that tab. xD
If somehow Indiana Jones can end up with a son then I'm just long lost daughter...I HATE SNAKES!!! :hoh

Not having time to actually create from scratch, I will just use filters to make my entry.

Nicely thought out and put together Issabella. Very nicely done Moko. Like the way you have put two scenarios together. What a naughty putty tat 2_ton, like what you have done with filters there.

@Issabella: A very imaginative piece for this subject! A prisoner desiring the freedom that is forbidden to them - very nice work :).

@Sallyanne: Chocolate! A very tasty entry for this week :).

@Mokonafan: A profound and well thought out piece - very nice work :).

@2-ton: A very nice result - there is definitely the forbidden desire in that cat's eyes!

Every where I look those 'forbidden desires' haunt me, even when I am just taking photographs ...
