how to add shadow or effect around the text

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User

I've watched a couple of youtube tutorials but they most likely only illustrate how to work with text layer. In fact, I am unable to select my Chinese font style inside GIMP text editor, so now I can only always type out the Chinese text with Ms Paint first and then copy the text to GIMP

In this case, how can I effect or a bit shadow around this text??

Can anyone show me the steps??

Here the steps to follow. You can apply colour or shadow. You can apply the colour blurred as shadow (Filters - Blur - Gaussian Blur ) to the layer below text.

Filters>Light and shadow>Drop shadow
