David, How do we call up the new arrows feature in the new release of G'MIC?

After Downloading gmic 1.7.2 64-bit Linux and installing in /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/ I still only get 1.7.1.
Not 1.7.2. What am I doing wrong?

Appreciate any help.

I think you have it in the wrong place.
It should be users/yourname/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins/whatever gimp gmic folder (in my case it's gmic-1.7.1-win64). Then restart gimp and G'MIC should be there.

Thanks mackenzieh. Appreciate the response, but I still get 1.7.1 from the user plug-ins also.

That's because there are 2 gimc applications in the folder. You only need 1 application and you can also delete the readme file and the copying file as well. You also need to go into your preferences in gimp in the folders section and have the new folder pointed to the directory.

Inside gimp, go to Edit>Preferences>Folders>Plug-ins. Once there, add the folder there. I hope that helps. :)

Also, when I try to download 1.7.2 zip Linux 64bits from the pop-up that comes up in 1.7.1, I get 404 File not found from the gmic website.

"The requested URL /files/latest/gmic_gimp_linux64.zip was not found on this server."

Ha yes, adam933, sorry but the link in the update notification entry has not been updated.
You should download it from the web site directly :

Yes, it works for me. I've downloaded the G'MIC plug-in for GIMP (linux 64bits, zip file), unzipped it, and moved the file 'gmic_gimp' in my $HOME/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins folder, ran GIMP, and I see 1.7.2 on the window title bar.

David, I edited my post. I'd like an answer to it. Thanks. It's post #23

For now, there are no filters in the G'MIC plug-in that uses the new -arrow command.
Maybe in the future :)

David,
What permission/group should I use when I copy to $HOME/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins ?

Thanks for your help.

Hi mackenzieh, My G'MIC 1.7.2 work smoothly. Keep on updating your OS and your G'MIC will be updated or keep on refreshing the g'mic. I am using UBUNTU 16.04.

Probably this :
$ chmod a+x $HOME/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins/gmic_gimp
