The trick I used here is to run G'MIC's Vector Painting on the image before isophotes selection technique. Still use the original image (isophotes and threshold) afterwards. The result is a more cleaner mosaic pattern, imo.

Thanks Pauline/Issabella. Still, I'm running out of ideas now, Issabella. Wish I wasn't so lazy; I would actually plug in my Wacom Bamboo and try to draw something. lol
