I had used this image for reference before (and for a mosaic; click here). Decided to use my new path method for this revisit. Also experimented with ways to make the grout better as well. :)

I find it great, Lyle. Your experimentation is very positive in results. Nice pic, too. :bigthup

Thanks Issabella; resolution is a bit too low based on tile size that is. May try to increase the size of the target before processing next time. :)

OK; relatively easy way to double the tile resolution using alternative path method.

1. Run G'MIC Stencil

2. Follow with Gradient Norm:

3. Finally Stencil again (different parameters):

Now do Channels > Add to selection to create the path (selection to path), and follow the Mosaic method as I outlined in the tute.

Here's a result (after resize, texturing and a few other tweaks). :)

I've come up with some ideas, but the way you've come up with these mosaics have totally blown my mind! These are absolutely brilliant and beautiful!! You keep our imaginations challenged!

Thanks Greg; just a huge fan of mosaics and have kept up with folk like Dr. di Blasi for years and felt inspired to try creating my own flow. Still would like a program that can create found object mosaics or JIMs, and hopefully I will one day (sort of have a program to do this, but right at this moment, it requires a lot more work than a lazy filter guy's willing to do. lol). :)

it's useless to say to you that it's very beautiful, because in any case you will be never satisfied and will continue forever....hehehe
