Google Fonts has a new layout.

You have no idea what you've done Odinbc. I confess to be a font hoarder. Some really nice ones there along with some listed that I had forgotten I had.

I haven't done anything. Google Fonts is just a good place to go for quality free fonts and improved the layout of their site. Linux folks should have a look into a program called TypeCatcher.

Which leads me to the question...how do you eliminate fonts in gimp? I have some I never use, and some that are duplicates.

Your system may use some of them so be careful deleting any. Gimp in Linux has its own font folder under user/gimp2.8. I generally put fonts in there unless I intend to use them in Inkscape which uses system wide fonts.

All the fonts you see in Gimp are computer's fonts and from Gimp Font folder(s) (Edit -> Preferences -> Folders -> Fonts). Show and hide Gimp Fonts with Ofnut's, addonCollectionManager. Control which computer fonts show in Gimp with a decent Fonts Manager. A Font Managers is useful for maintenance as well.

Roboto Condensed saves a lot of space in file explorers (or lets you see more of the file names in smaller window).

This is handy, pairing typefaces for Google Fonts.

Odin: How do you download any of the fonts? Are they just for use on websites?

1. Go to Google Fonts.
2. Select font name (or See Specimen).
3. Upper right of the font(s) page, Select This Font.
4. Lower right of the browser window, Open Selection Draw to review selection(s), download.
