Busy writing a tut but thought the ship's wake deserved some attention.

Serious Tom, I love your idea on the pic, it's cute. :)

Beautiful images, Dinasset. That effect is great on views. I think it enhances them a lot. :bigthup

Probably my last two before I go on holiday tomorrow night. My small laptop does not have the computing power for serious editing, but I may "lurk" to see what is going on!

The first one, which I have called "calm_sea": intensified colours, small amount of sharpening and cropped to a lower height to create the impression of a wide vista.

The second, called "marina": so many layers and masks that I confused myself! Increased contrast in foreground to bring out reflections. Increased contrast and saturation of near part of the city to contrast with reduced contrast and saturation for the more distant parts which I have slightly blurred to create depth. Sharpened. Like the first image, cropped to a lower height.

david.

Thought I'd try out the new gimp
Did a little extra contrast, saturation, details and then ran National Geographic on it.

I think I'm out matched here but enjoy it anyway.
I wanted more details on the hill in the background and selected it with freaky details.
Auto white levels but I didn't like the sky so I erased it and merged it to the original.
The sunset over the water used a mask to lighten the waves and used glauson blur @30 for grain extract, new from visible and set it as grain merge. Set the original blur to overlay.
Added some light rays and layer gradient to them.

SeriousTom,

You're not outmatched in any way. Your interpretations are just as valid as any one else! Keep them coming.

david.
