I find it a lot easier to do the paths in Inkscape, Pat, but it does have a bit of a learning curve. In Gimp you have to know where the Paths import/export is hidden. It's in the context menu.

Textureking has some nice textures, but they are not seamless. Just be aware of that. Not that hard to make them seamless though.
