Issabella, I remember many of those in your collage. There was an old car that I though wonderful also.
Your works were many of my inspirations!
Pat, one of the reasons I love this filter is that like playing music in a live performance, it never has to be
done exactly the same way and there are a lot of variables that can be picked depending on how you are
thinking or feeling at the time, for good, great or not so good. Practice and experience helps keep
the not so good away (most of the time)... Nice cup of coffee!

This one is using the brighten subject first, and I am noticing that it looks as if number of colors
can be used as "focus". There may be too many, or not enough on some subjects for them to
be 'clear'

Those are very nifty, Animicule. Is the last one a compilation that you made?

I like a lot your Mountain&Valley, Pat.
IMO not always more detailed is better, only the important details should emerge, we should not forget that at the very beginning this filter was created/used with wood to simulate a kind of "intarsio".
This one is an excellent example.

Pat, very wonderful Mountain & Valley landscape!!!
Yes, practice making patterns, crop, paste & perspective tool.

Hardy, great macros once again!

Here is a composite with same subject, no layer play, all settings same
except for number of colors. RGB552 set. You can see the 'focus' change and
the colors of the areas may change with number of colors.
top left 4, right 12
bottom left 36, right 256

I prefer the 36 version, kept the colors closer to subject and
has good focus to my taste.

Animicule: With your 552 color set, is it all one texture? How long did it take to put colors on 552 images? Do you use a batch file? I apologize for asking so many questions but I am slow at doing this and find it quite time consuming.

Pat, the RGB552 set is just color, no texture.
When doing the textured pattern sets before, my keyboard has extra keys on the side that can be used as
macro keys which saved time, and I already had the color set saved in an gimp file as layers.
Still very time consuming (fastest I got was about 4 per minute if fully concentrating),but allows for contrast corrections with dark colors and light colors. I have another option. If you would like to PM me a few textures I will see what can be done. Let me know what size (hopefully under 1024x1024 as the sets get large quick). Are you using the free redfield photoshop plugin to make seamless?

Very artistic on your painting!

I guess I was not really paying attention as to how seamless the textures was. I really wanted to scrap the ones I have and do better ones. Need to think about the textures some more. Thank you for your offer of help, I'm just not ready for it yet. I need to make some decent textures.

I found another vase picture.

Pat, it's very old photograph that was hand colored probably half a century before I was born.
Just wondering about your priceless antique looking vase, is that an ice cube in front? :hehe

My offer stands on sending patterns, remember to just try anything you can think of
and see how it works. Easy enough to make small sets for testing using the sRGB 16 color set.

Here is one with, for the subject, lowest number of nuances to my taste.

Really nice, Animicule. I will send you a few patterns as soon as I make them. What size do you prefer to make textures? I will try the filter to make them seamless.

I kept looking at the picture of the vase with the little box in front of it. I could not tell from the original what it was.

Only for the sake of the Set size (for many color sets) I like to keep them under 1024x1024.
Most of the patterns I worked on a few weeks ago when extra time was found were 64x64 or less
and the patterns were very 'tight' which added slight textures. I don't off hand remember the
size of the woodgrain patterns, but the wood137 set seems to work ok.
Remember, patterns don't have to be in color, having some white, black, or gray still shows the
texture and the color in the subject will show.
Another method is having a pattern with alpha channel and removing a lot of the area with color select
tool, then colorizing the remaining pattern and having the transparent part let the subject color show
through clearly and the colorized pattern shows.
You may use the brightness/contrast to sharpen up the pattern, and make 3 patterns for a set - dark, mid and light, so that the dark colors will have a light pattern that shows, and the light patterns have a dark that shows with the mids for the in-betweens.
