Just a thought; on the text layer try other modes like Difference or add a text outline. You could combine those by making an outline stroke on a new layer and play with it's mode. I find the text hard to read.

My thoughts exactly. You could make that back ground color just a wee bit darker to enhance the lettering.

The second piece is definitely better RJKD. I love the leaves and the autumn mist near the tree line .

Thank you Pat, I was originally trying to get a 70's poster effect, however I think I chose the wrong subject matter, so I'm back to the drawing board on that one.
