Warning : do not use any gray value (R=G=B) for "Colour of the lead junctions", otherwise you may get a flat single-color outcome

but this happens randomly, so maybe you will get the correct outcome also with a gray nuance (re-opened gimp and retried, it works....bah!)

yea, play with layers and modes, depending on your output image
in more or less than 1/3 of the cases for instance Multiply mode could be better than Overlay, for some layers
