are they amaranth? i think that's the closest type of flowers that i can think of that i have seen in real life.

Tin - no they are an Australian perennial native plant, called kangaroo paw, because of the shape of their flower heads. They are typical 'strappy leaf' plants and vary greatly in size and there are plenty of colours.

On mine the multiple flower stallks have grown from nothing to around two metres high right now and probably have about 20 branches/flower heads on each stalk. Once they finmish flowering, I cut them back to ground level, leaves as well, then they start growing all over again. Here is an example photo against a clear sky -
