My great great grandfather invented a toy and I have a copy of the patent. It's on white paper, naturally, and I would love to make it look like the one below. I've tried every filter I can find and tried overlaying it with an old paper background and then reducing the paper's opacity. It looks ok but it doesn't look much like the one below. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

if you succeed in reducing the drawing you have to only lines over a transparent BG. then you can put it on an old paper at your choice

maintaing only the lined with color-to-Alpha (white)
and moving on top of an old paper
you get this one

trandoductin: I downloaded your xcf attachment and have a question: where did you get that overlay that made your image brighter in the center? I've been making the edges darker but like your way better.

Thanks.

You just paint the layer with white with a soft brush, Gaussian blur it, then set layer mode to overlay and change the opacity to your liking.

trandoductin: thanks again! Just followed your directions and my image came out perfectly.

I apologize for bombarding you with questions, but your last example has a texture where your first example was smooth. Did you use a filter? It looks awesome.

If you like, you may apply Clothify

Wow, what took you so long to answer? It was at least 10 minutes! :-)
