Just tried another play at making a space scene.
One of these days I'll do a tutorial but I don't want to do the same as everyone else.

Very nice from a general viewpoint.
But the rings around the central planet are not in perspective and not around the mid of the planet (the "equator") as -IMO- they should be.

The physics nazi says:

- You can't have rings extending down to the surface of the planet
- The rings are on a plane that goes through the center of the planet
- The planet casts a shadow on its rings
- Any "banding" on the planet is likely more or less parallel to the rings
- All planets should have the sun on the same side

Also anything big enough to show as more than a pixel will have a gravitational pull. So your image is just showing 4 satellites of the same planet minutes before they crashed in each other. I think the only way to have a picture that represent three visually large bodies in a stable configuration is a moon in the foreground, its mother planet next and a sun in the back, and if the planet is anything but a deep-fried rock, the sun has better be a red dwarf. If you want 4, then it's and asteroid or a space station circling the moon.

Just to set your mind at ease. I know I may not have it all correct. Only three of them are planets and one never knows how far away from each other they may be.

Thank you everyone for your comments.

The laws of perspective tell you how far away they are..

Unless you're in GIMP-land (similar to Toon-Town of Roger Rabbit fame, where humans aren't necessarily bound to the laws of physics)

:hehe

Very nice Sallyanne :). I especially like the textures on the planets - looking forward to more.
