Hello all,
I wonder if it is possible to "really" merge visible paths.
I do this:
I use the path tool to create two separate paths. Make them visible. Merge visible paths.
It looks like there's only one ( merged = path now. So far so good.
But . when I now try to move the whole thing by using the Alt-key only one of the parts move. I would expect to move the whole figure at once, not the original individual paths. The merge visible option doesn's make much sense if it doesn't really merge things together into one.

So ... is it possible to merge all to "really" one path? Or is it possible to somehow select the complete figure to move it around?

I hope I've explained well enough what I want to achieve.

Cheers

Within the path editor, you really want to change the relative position of strokes with the regard to each other. If you want to move the whole path, use the Move tool in "Path" mode. But remember that if you "link" things (Layers, Paths, Channels...) then everything linked when you apply a transform to one of them applies the same transform to the rest, so maybe you don't need to merge the paths, but just need to link them.

If you want to change visually close but distinct "strokes" into a real single stroke, the "Join strokes" function of my ofn-path-edits script maybe what you need.

Is it not because you are still editing? and therefore moving elements - nodes - handles of a path.

Two paths before merge visible http://imgur.com/5ADOEZS

After, to move, requires using the move tool. http://imgur.com/fe7SSvy

Thanks a heap to both of you. I just didn't come upon the idea of using the move-tool. Works perfectly now.
Interesting collection of scripts. I'll look into those later.
