Hello all,

Can it be that with new Gimp Versions the
sambrookjm Hex and Triangle grids

from http://registry.gimp.org/node/25244?page=1
is no longer working.
It only produces a stripy design for me ... no triangles or hexagons.
See attached screenshot of outcome.
Default settings used.

G'MIC can do this easily (and my bet both better and faster not to mention you get a preview). :)

Nelo, I just downloaded that script and it seems to work, at least just using the defaults as you said I got:

@dinaaset
according to Meld Compare tool they are identical.

@lylejk
that looks goo! I'm going to find it in G'mic.

Nevertheless I wonder what's missing in my installation.

Nelo,
because I have a second user environment without additions (simple gimp+gmic installation), I did a second try, and I can confirm that the script works: got same result with the defaults I posted earlier.
Strange your outcome.

Yes , very strange that is. And I have no idea what causes this outcome. If there is a conflict somewhere. Meanwhile I can live with the G'mic version suggested by Lyle. But I'll let you know should I find a solution.

Graechan, I didn't make any adjustment, nor deep tests, only run the filter with its defaults to double-check Nelo's problem. I got that result. also running it in a clean Gimp environment. Maybe that with some Gimp environment set-upa it doesn't work, IDK.

did you ask for "transparent output fill"?

i.e. hex colour? = Transparent

Ah, OK.
To answer to your previous question, brush size can only be increased (unfortunately)

maybe you - as an .scm expert- can enhance the filter to let use thinner borders

In case it is useful, my path-shaped-grid script will generate an hexagonal grid path, that can have the thickness you want.

@nelo, #graechan

this has been obtained using Ofnuts suggested filter (stroking the path with 2pix), a very good alternative

The mosaic filter Filter -> Distorts -> Mosaic with suitable values, applied to a plasma, is another alternative

edit: and as a sample of things to come, Gimp 2.9.5 the mosaic filter has been "geglized" and applies directly on the canvas.
