Hi, I installed Gimp 2.9.5 (Windows portable version) recently and wondered if anyone can answer my queries..

A couple of things - in the 'Filters' menu, below the main list are three groups of filters (viz. Nik Collection, ON1 and Topaz) and a little further down we have 'Goat Exercise' (..!!) and Panorama Stitcher.. I've tried most of these filters, if not all of them, yet they all come back with an error message, is it possible I'm missing something? Or should I just ignore it?

Apart from that everything else is great - needed the GEGL favourites feature badly, I'm glad I installed it now - so that really helps and it's only crashed twice on me and that was probably my fault anyway ! :hehe

Thanks for help.

Not sure if this will help,
but here's a link,
located here on Gimp Chat about the Nik Collection.

So now I've got the Nik Collection installed (from https://www.google.com/nikcollection/), and managed to track down the Panorama Stitcher (from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/product/computational-photography-applications/image-composite-editor/) I now still have the problem of finding out what the "Goat Exercise" is all about, can't find anything relevant online, can someone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks.

Martin

The short answer for a user is, it does not do anything.

However, more important, Have you enabled the new tools. Edit -> Preferences -> Playground.

I saw those but wasn't sure what to do about them, I've now enabled them, yes... although I'm still none the wiser! Hmmm...

The best way is fire up an image and experiment.

1. The handle transform is a combined shear / perspective type tool http://i.imgur.com/fPpAQsO.jpg

2. n-point deformation puts a grid over the canvas and clicking-dragging at grid points deforms the image. http://i.imgur.com/NRbWLkv.jpg

3. Seamless clone takes whatever is in the clipboard and depending on where it is placed in the canvas adjusts the colour to blend in with the background. http://i.imgur.com/yMTc28I.jpg

OK great stuff, I restarted and can see them now, will have to start experimenting shortly - looks like they could be quite useful!

Cheers!
