It would depend on the operating system you're using.

I'm using Win 10 and G'MIC provides an installer for windows.

However,
in Windows,
the gmic_gimp.exe would go into the User Plug-ins folder.
As seen in my screenshot below.

if you are using windows the updates go into
c:\users\YOURUSERNAME\appdata\gmic
appdata may be hidden so you may need to unhide it

so path to your file
c:\users\YOURUSERNAME\appdata\gmic\update179.gmic

Pretty sure it's - c:\users\YOURUSERNAME\appdata\roaming\gmic\update179.gmic ... close enough though!

I have downloaded gmic1.7.9 but I will only have 367 filters.
I have tried to refresh but will always have thr message can't find the source.
I have tried to download manually 1.7.9 and installed in user/2.8/plugin folder but still have 367 filters.
I have tried to install it in Appdata/roaming/gmic but still have 367 filters
Then I have tried to download the Update179 file and also installed it in the two different locations as above but still only 367 filters and I am not possible to refresh to have more filters.

Anyone have any idea?????????
