Fonts appear condensed

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

Starting today, all of the fonts I try in the Text tool appear condensed or "excessively tall".
See attached image.
How can I fix this? It wasn't a problem a short time ago. I updated to the latest Gimp and the problem persists. Thanks.

My best guess

You have different horizontal and vertical values for the image ppi.

You might have been trying to scale this way or some accident.

Go into Image -> Print Size and check. If they are different you can break the link and set equal. Best way usually is start again.

Open Image>Print size. Is the print definition the same for both X and Y?
