Stop Looking for Fonts Already

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Experienced User

I installed a font that was located in my downloads folder and ever since then gimp takes a long time looking for fonts on start up.

Is there a way I can make it stop?

Where have you installed the font and did you try removing the font

I opened the font from the downloads folder and installed it from there. You can install a font from wherever it is. I should have moved it to the fonts folder first. But it just takes a very long time to look for fonts every time I start up gimp. It used to start up pretty fast.

I hid the font Benguiat and it starts up must faster. That's the font I installed that started making it slow. I found that font online. It was free. I don't know what makes it take so long when I use it.

I'm fixed up now.

I have the same problem. I install them the same way as you. From the downloads.
I have to many of them to figure out which one is a problem but when I start Gimp it always stays on looking for Fonts for a couple of minutes.
Libre Office updates really slow it down.
It would be nice to be able to tell it not to look for new fonts if I hadn't installed any new ones.

Try running GIMP as adminstration (just once and then close). Then launch again and see what happens. Fixed a weird startup issue for me a few months ago.

GIMP starts up so fast now I don't even see the splash page :yes

Windows 10, GIMP 2.10.4 64bit
I just deleted the entire cache and that seemed to work excellent. Still have all my fonts but no files in the cache even after shutting GIMP down.
