Isn't there an opposite of Wine, that allows Linux apps to be run in Windows? I thought I read that somewhere. There is a Windows app that is very much like kdenlive called video studio http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... bview=tab2 that is made by Corel. I can't stand Corel, their inflated prices or their air of self importance. I plan to use Linux for most of my video editing but it would be nice if I could run kdenlive on Windows. Plus, I must admit that I know someone who is a dedicated user of Video Studio and it would bring great pleasure to show him there is something better for free.

Back when I ran both Windows and GNU/Linux, I had cygwin installed. I see they also have Xcygwin, which is a port of the X-windows system to Windows. Don't know if those could also help or not. Bringing them to your attention in case they can help some.

I think your best* solution would be to install Virtualbox on your Windows machine and then install your favorite GNU/Linux distro as a guest OS.

I agree with you Saul and actually do this; created shares between Ubuntu and my Windows OS too. That's an aweful big download to do pretty much what Virtualbox and True Ubuntu (or whatever flavor of Linux desired) is. Have the side benifit to install numerous OSs (currently have Ubuntu 64-bit Natty Narwhal, XP, and Win98 (to run my favorite game Uno that doesn't work that well in XP (and not at all in Win7)). Mainly I use XP (typing this now in a Sandboxed IE inside XP) to isolate my Win7 OS from the bad folk out there.

I installed VM but i never used, i have just a dual boot and a shared partition for doc.
I should try to set it up just i found very hard mantain concetration and focus when is time to read doc, how to ,or even tutorials

I know that wubi may run ubuntu as a windows program , but i didn't like the idea so i used wubi once but only to install
(wubi has 3 option, try , install , ...or something as install as windows app (again no idea of what "run as windows app" exactly means

I tried the smaller version of addlinux (minimal / XFCE version, 200 MB:), and it couldn't find (wouldn't let me add), a share folder in C directory so i decided not to fool with it.If i am going to use Linux i want to be able to call my Windows programs through Samba.

That's just the opposite of what I need, bummer. I want to run a linux app in windows.
