Took these last night a few minutes apart. (Just checked again and they were only 30 seconds apart ) One looks like it is burnt out by the sun but it is a flash of lightning that did it and lit the sky up. They are both much smaller than originally.

Thank you Pat, No, I don't use anything special, just a point and shoot with the flash off (I figure the lightning will provide the light) and my camera on high speed shooting while button is pressed) That way I can get about 10 frames per button push but still missed some really good strikes. Out of a thousand I only got those two.. And because I am not very steady on my feet even I make sure I am somewhere where I can lean against something.

One method is to use very long exposures (and a tripod), that you end once a lightning has struck. But this only works where there is no light pollution.
