I need a new site to distribute some more scripts. What is the hip place? Is Sourceforge still OK or is GitHub the future?

Both are not too friendly for occasional visitors but Sourceforge seems the less confusing.

But that for compiled SW, in that case the download pages usually look as labyrinths.

Not in your case because the files will be the same for all OS, so much less chances for confusion
in any case i like more sourceforge

If they are GIMP scripts, why not use the Repository? Sourceforge is fine too. Heard but not too familiar with github (must be a linux thing). :)

Thought about that... after all that's were I advertized Wrapmap. But the web support looks very basic and I like to keep all my stuff at the same place, when the Registry is more like one entry per script. And do they keep download stats?

I'll throw in an alternative thought: Google Code

I've just figured out how to put my code into it, I'm using Mercurial and it also supports Subversion:
My scripts

My preferred version control software is Fossil and I use the Chiselapp hosting generously provided by James Turner of Husky Coding House (though if you have your own website it is just as easy to host it yourself).

The main reason I prefer Fossil is because the same web interface (such as exhibited by my Script-fu repository) is available while off-line -- I have the same WIKI and graphical interface for editing, browsing, and management even for the repositories I don't publicize on the web.
