In the meantime:

Before I lost everything, I use to be an EE ofnuts. Not a coder (only some assembly code stuff); mainly analogue and power electronics (but believe it or not, I actually did a lot of digital logic circuits in college). Just curious as to what type of electronic project he has to do. :)

Cool, ofnuts! Unfortunately, GLAD is persistent, if not anything. I just hope you own a boat, and a cheese slicer. :)

A pocket amplifier for headphones. A double op amp and a handful of resistors and capacitors.

My first diploma was an EE one. Then I go sidetracked writing the code to run on that stuff.

Given that we have had one of the most severe droughts of the century, raindances are gladly accepted on behalf of ours farmers. After all, no rain, no water, no water, no grass, no grass, no cows, no cows, no milk, and no milk, no cheese. And I love cheese.

If I could I'd send you some of our rain. We had some sunny days now it's back to rain.

Love your cheese. Cheese is good.

My first opamp that I learned in tech school (got an associated degree in Electronics Technology before I had to start from scratch to get my ee) was a 741. Liked the 386 opamps better. Oh the memories. lol

Sound like fun; I personally still have some soldering iron marks on my arm from the fun times. lol

Glad your boy is going old school. All the various all in one chips are no fun. Not sure if you are familiar with Forest M. Mimms iii notebooks. I had them all when I was a kid (well highschool by then; electronics was a hobby of mine since I was 8 years old). Radio Shack use to sell them; not sure now. the 555 timer cookbook is a good one too; highly recommended. :)

In the script I'm writing to generate random ellipses:

Separate=No
Density=30
Average Size=30
Size variation=6
Average Flattening=25
Flattening variation=10
Average tilt=0
Tilt variation=10

Duplicate layer produced, use once as a multiply mix with pale yellow layer, and once as a bump map on said mix result. The script is about 25% functional, still lots of work required...

Some more... now I just have to find a way to make the depth of the holes somewhat proportional to their size.

Hey ofnuts. Seeing your result reminded me of something I've seen before. I finally remembered it was from the chisel script-fu. I rendered plasma clouds and did a channel selection of the highlights (after I desaturated and enhance the contrast) and then copy/pasted in new layer (so now the layer has transparancies which the chisel script-fu requires) and then ran the chisel script-fu. Did add some additional textures and colors for this result (and of course cropped since it also creates an outer bevel). :)
