I'm giving up. It's been fun but people aren't interested in what I do anymore. I wish you all the best. I would like my account deleted if possible. :(

I hope everything is OK for you. I am probably way off the mark but I notice people have a weird relationship with online forums. For example I like watching metal detecting videos but after awhile the guys making them seem to need to keep producing more and more videos just for their audience. What started as a hobby has become a job.
Maybe for some people having your work appreciated becomes the reason for doing it. This is really complex because art and artists are complex people.
Everybody likes to be appreciated but we are in a world where multimedia and special effects are quite common. We all have to deal with the population 'bell curve' which means most people are average with average likes. Most wouldn't know what art is anyway.
And why were we (males) programmed with a relentless drive to reproduce? Even when the planets population is changing the Earth's climate?
It sure doesn't make sense but the average like to believe that it does......

Maybe you could experiment posting under GimpLearn: many GC users have moved there, and in general members of GL are commenting much more frequently.
(if you wonder why I do not post there except very rarely, it's a personal decision)

Sorry to see you go Erisian. I think GC is just in a slump at the moment. Hopefully newer people will join and post more. I know I don't post a lot either, but it is in my nature. I don't chat normally a lot.
Pity so many join and never 'join in', but then I am guilty of that in other forums.

When it no longer is fun, it should end, but I sure do hope you don't go away, Erisian. You've been a fantastic and contributing member to this forum for years now. Hope all's still well with you.

Sad news. Maybe people are shy from commenting on what you do so you get the impression that people aren't interested anymore... but whatever you do. I wish you the best.

This is very sad and surprising news,
to say the least.
:(
Take a break and give it some time.
There's no need for your account to be deleted.
You are a wonderful Gimp Chat member and always have been.

I've signed on to a few forums. I usually move on when I get bored. Nothing personal, I just get bored after a while. I don't need people to comment, to me it's just art and I like to share mine and see other's. Sometimes I comment, but most times I don't. I wouldn't delete the account, you never know when you may want to post something.

Good luck.

Yes. There's no doubt about the quality of your work Erisian. There are probably more similarly gifted artists on certain other sites that inspire one other more - but you can always change your mind or perhaps do a rogue or anonymous posting. I'm sure we would recognise your style. Anyway, best of luck to you in all your creative endeavours!

I think he's had too much of that brown bean juice! I'll feed him some more of his beloved pork pies and sausage rolls and try to get him to have some sensible, sanity-inducing TEA for once, and I'm sure he'll slowly and maybe he will slowly and gradually come to his senses. I hope he finds a forum where he'll get the feedback he needs right now, but I hope he stays on here to - it's a bit weird and lonely here without him.

It's okay anmal, Aris went through this before, way back when he still lived in England. He was beating up on himself all the time because he didn't think he was getting enough praise for his work.
The truth of the matter is, if everyone thought that way, they would all quit.

It isn't about getting praise, it is all about how happy you are on what you created.

Molly, wise words and thoughts. I agree with you. But I think that Erisian can always take a look at this forum and say "hi" because he knows we will be here and will be happy if he is happy where he is. I want to thank him to have shared with us all his artistic work and creations and because he has always been a source of inspiration to so many. :tyspin

Erisian - Whoa ... I'll add to the positive sentiments that I put in my PM the other day.

In the words of a number of recording artists "please do'nt go".

Remember too that exit doors have ENTER on the other side.

It's always sad when someone moves on, and it's always a joy when they come back at least once in a while. Many of us read posts but don't participate or comment or post ourselves...time is my constraint...but we still don't want to miss the opportunity to view the art. Perhaps requesting some C&C would elicit more response if it is wanted.

Hmm seems a shame to cut all ties, maybe just a break would do? I like seeing the old regulars even though I hardly post these days (new job killed my time). Sorely miss photocomix too. Went through the pain of recovering my login to post this so perhaps that means something :)

Good to see you garagecoder.
Thanks for chiming in on this.

PS. It's sad the way photocomix has simply vanished.
