Used triangular ripple distortion to get this particular weave effect. Yes; still having fun. lol

My goodness, that's incredible! have you created a tutorial on this effect anywhere? Sorry if you have and I've missed it.

Didn't use the distortion technique or the x/2, y/2 per the tut that I outlined, but pretty much followed the flow otherwise using Ripple (triangle) distortion instead. :)

Thought I would do both horizontal and vertical ripple distortion this time (didn't resize, though). Also added simple image overlay to get some added contrast (re-colorized of course for the canvas color). Well; I suppose I should call this one burlap weave. lol

:)

Lyle, would you please get a little more specific for me? When do you use the Ripple effect and what are the settings. Do you leave out any of the settings in the Wicker script? I have tried a couple different ways but cannot achieve what you have done. Also, when and how do you do your coloring?

OK, Pat. What I do is first run Ripple (by the way, samj placed a better ripple in folder for g'mic; takes care of edge issues so I highly recommend using her preset), then I rotate 90 degs and run Ripple with same settings. I then run super pixel, horizontally flip and run Ripple again (same settings), then horizontally flip and rotate -90 degs to right the image and and horizontally flip and run Ripple again and then horizontally flip to recover. Sounds complicated, I know, but it's not that hard. Now with this result, I run the wicker process as I outlined. :)

Lyle, this is as close to yours as I have been able to get. I have followed your instructions and even did the convolution step. Are there some changes in the default settings I should make? It does not have the "woven" look as it gets away from the center of the rose. I apologize for being such a pest but I really love this effect and would like to be able to do it.

Your result actually really looks like a wicker basket, Pat. Fantastic.

As for woven look, after the reverse distortion step (don't reverse until you run superpixel first), you need to run Anisotrophic smoothing (not too smudgely, so increase sharpness) and then run Gradient norm. This gives the woven look. :)

OK, Pat. Here's the steps used graphically.

Now recover image by reversing the ripple steps (horizontal flip, ripple, horizontal flip, rotate back, horizontal flip, ripple horizontle flip; way too may steps to create screen captures but you can figure this out).

Now run Anisotrophic smoothing:
