I have spent hours trying to get this feature to work, and have watched several tutorials.

When I right click to select text along a path, the text goes along the path but then also breaks into a straight line and also bubbles? I've deleted paths, restarted my design, and this still happens. Please help me...I am trying to finish a poster :P

There's 2 things going on here.
1. The text is too large.
2. The path is too small.

This generally happens,
when the path being used for the text to follow,
is too small for the text.

Either make the text a bit smaller,
or make the path a little longer.

The path seems large enough to afford two "G" in "bigger" :)

Yeah,
I forgot the second "G".

The straight lines to the NW corner are because your path is too small for the text.

The "bubbles" are the path control points, that are displayed because the Path tool is active. To see the plain path, just make it visible in the Path lists (eye icon, like in Layers/Channels) and pick another tool.

Gimp's native text-along-path has many shortcomings, many are resolved in my own ofn-text-along-path script/plugin.

Glad you sorted this out.

Ofnuts' text-along-path plugin,
is an exceptional tool for adding text along a path.
As are most of his path tools.
I highly recommend them.
