So I had an idea to take a group of ad-hoc photos and apply filters (example the cartoon filter) to them systematically with the expectation that I could get the resulting images to all kind of match in style. However in hindsight, I suspect that the pictures going in all varied too much in resolution, brightness, contrast, distance of subject, colors etc. so the same filter results on different photos were widely different (example some looked way more cartoony than others.)

The individual results were fine some even great..but as a group the images just didn't appear to match in style no matter how much I fiddled.

So my question...is there a technique/recommendation to kind massage a group of photos to get them similar enough before applying some of the artistic filters such that they all match in style afterwards? Or maybe what I am asking is just not realistic...
