This message appears from time to time to me, never before in other versions of Gimp. I'm using Gimp 2.10.6 portable.
It closes the program at once.
Any help it will be appreciated.

I think you're using Samj's pack.
You may post this info on their site, if you like.
Otherwise….just wait for the next compilation.

I have been having that problem intermittently also. I have it on a flash drive and thought that may have something to do with it. I was going to place it on the hard drive and see if that made any difference.

Thanks Pat for reporting the problem here, too. I thought It was only on my side.

Issabella, I have to re do my 2.10.6 portable set up again. That intermittent error that we were getting is no more. The program will not start at all. I tried several things, like deleting the desktop icon and re do it. Also, clicking on the file that starts it. I even tried it with the other languages and it did not work. Not sure if I want to set up 2.10.6 again. I hope your Gimp is working OK now. This is very frustrating!

Maybe you added a piece which caused the problem.
My suggestion is:
- download samj's pack again, unzip (do not overlay your current folder!)
- launch the English exe of the new pack and check if gimp starts correctly
- if so, now the annoying part:
- - looking at your current pack (the one which does not work any more), take one of your pieces you added there -one at a time- and add it to the new pack and check
