Gimp and the fonts

I want to offer a suggestion cum request.
When GIMP starts it takes lot of time reading the data especially the fonts in the Computer. With or without our knowledge scores of fonts get accumulated in our system.
We use very few fonts in GIMP because GIMP is basically a graphic program. Why not some comptuer and software experts in our wonderful chat group devise some method to make GIMP select only few fonts of our choice?

This normally only happens once after GImp installation. If it happens everytime, there are fixes.

Hi dear ofnuts, I am an ignoramus. Please enlighten me about the fixes at your convenience.
I have GIMP 2.4 in Windows 10-64 bit.
