If it were done the other way around.
I do believe we humans would be the bug and not the software.

Back in the day when I ran Windows, I would always keep backup Drive/Partition images ready for the next disaster. I first started out with "Norton Ghost" on a 3.5 inch floppy disk and eventually moved up to "Clonezilla". Clonezilla can pretty much clone anything and it's free.

No need for that anymore however, I use TimeShift in Linux. Super fast and works great.

I agree,
backups are a very important part of maintaining an OS.
Most of the time...
Backups are only thought about after the fact,
by then it's to late.

So,
backing up your data frequently,
is an essential part of maintaining a healthy OS.
