Gimp access to /media directory (Ubuntu)

Hi, folks!

Using Ubuntu 18.04 and Gimp 2.10.6 here.

I'm trying to access my data disk... and for some reason pic files won't open in Gimp. Access is denied. I'm also trying to load pics from withing Gimp itself, and access is denied to the /media directory (when I try to find the data disk mounted under the /media directory).

The data disk is accessible for other programs. Gimp is the problem, it seems. (I didn't have this problem when using Ubuntu 16.04 and an older Gimp version.)

Anyone with info on what could be wrong?

check your /media permissions.
I can open my /media under Ubuntu just fine.

Hmm... I seem to get the same info as you did, trandoductin.

And... I do get permission to access the data disk in Ubuntu. The other programs work fine. They can open files without a problem. It's Gimp that, for some completely weird reason, doesn't get access.

Ubuntu is so weird. At times, it's great. At times, it's about to give me a heart attack.

Hmm... In the Ubuntu Software “manager”, on Gimp's own “page”, there is a special button called “Permissions”. In the list of permissions it serves you, the last one seems to potentially give you the problem I've had up until now. (See pic.) This seems to be the culprit. I've managed to enter the data disk now. <phew!>

I don't know how to get to see whatyou're seeing though. I used the flatpak installation for GIMP so i run gimp from command line
