Bruno (Flickr) shared with me the artist, Visothkakvei, that makes these type of renders. Thought I would take both PicPaks and G'MIC's Pack Sprites to see if I could come close and this is the result.

Not had a play with pack sprites for awhile

PicPaks is good at the large shapes but doesn't pack close as Pack Sprites can. Pack Spites has problems with embedding objects within bigger ones that I don't like. Synergisticly combining the two gives the best results, IMO.
