 Post subject: Gaussian blur is acting up, Help (Solved)

GIMP Version: 2.10.8
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

Gaussian blur

List any ERROR messages you received:
None



Hi everyone! Recently I been noticing that the when I apply the Gaussian blur filter on the preview, it gives me a perfect Blur. But after I applied the filter, is leaving these wave lines . Anybody else have had experience the same?
How can I get rid of those lines?

It looks like some sort of 'ramping' you get with 8 bit images.

Try bumping the bit depth up to (at minimum 16 bit) 32 bit floating before applying the blur.

Yeah, it's called "Banding" and is likely caused by the very high blur settings used in 8-bit image mode. It should work better in 32-bit floating point mode.
