How long did it normally take for a render to process?

Finally got it working in q4wine ( :yes ), but what a nightmare that was!

Anyway, loads of fun to be had now, baby!

Thanks, Lyle!

I rendered the pic it came with to test it.

OK Mahvin; recreated my steps (but used my original code; much easier to work with since it isn't as non-linear). I did not fill the center though (figure you can figure that one out). :)

# Common Parameters
p=5
q=5
jpegQuality=100

# create rendering
infile=..\\example\\ptest.jpg
outfile=..\example\\ptestpoincare.jpg
action=render

# Fundamental Region Parameters
px=600.0
py=600.0
rx=50.0
ry=500
maskColor=black

# Render Parameters
renderedSize=1600
borderSize=4
supersamplingRate=4
perturbationFactor=0.000
outOfBoundsColor=black
unreachableColor=black
nonSourceColor=black
maxIterations=20
negate=false

Composite (w/ mask overlay just for reference so you can get the gist):

result (again, don't want to take too much of Tux's storage space; the other images are small in size):

edit: Oh yeah; forgot to rotate the result 18º to the right. :)

Lyle: Did you outline the mask with a path, and then stroke the path with a brush? Sounds like the easiest way to deal with the outer parameter.

I used shift click to stroke and then carefully placed the anchor skittles (anchors are the ones at the 2 points). Filling inside the mask is just an exercise so decided not to do that for this one as stated (don't have to worry about symmetry inside the mask). If you use a none mirrorable component, you can't do the edge thingy of course. Still lost of play so have fun and hope to see some of your concoctions now that you got it to work in Linux. :)

Very cool Mahvin. I haven't been sharing, but found some cooler things about using this program (like making the template smaller with bigger fill gives you higher rez of the filled components (opposite is true with larger templates). Sort of not intuitive, but it is true. I can see why Flickr has dedicated a whole group to Poincaré discs. Need to try to figure out how to do an Escher like Poincaré next (tried butterflies, but think I can do better). :)

OK; still can't help myself (and this time I didn't forget to rotate by 18º). :)

Looks cool Mahvin. Found out that the creator of this cool program has a Flickr. Posted a comment over there too. He actually has an improved program (four sided instead of the three sided trapezoid like this program is) but he's never released the code. Still, I had much too much fun with this program. :)

Maybe he will release it, eventually.

5,5 ratio (as your example is and most of the ones I posted) is still my favorite ratio I tried thus far. 5,4 (not showing) is beging to grow on me though and for a few I do like the 7,3 ratio. Don't are too much for the 10,5 (the rocket) ratio though, but the Rocket render per his example is cool. :)

I get the errors if I use anything under 5.

I've not had an issue with 5,4 or 7,3 Mahvin; wonder if it has something to do with Linux? Note that you will need to re-create a mask for the other ratios for a template to lay down your components (i.e., the triangle changes). Here's a quicky 5,4. :)

User error, Lyle. Being new to this, I was trying to input mismatching numbers.

I haven't been able to try this out yet but it looks very interesting. Maybe one of our genius coders can script-fu or python-fu a input box that would pass the image and the code to the command line? Sort of like Shellout? It's way out of my league, but I would think it's possible.
