yes, most of the bug fixes will be implemented in 2.8 i'm pretty sure.
there was also another critical bug that would crash 2.6.9 when you used any scroll bar in a tool selection.
Gradient,brush,even text type
You could mouse wheel and choose or directly select, but if you clicked an up or down arrow on the scroll bar it would crash the program.
this bug has since been resolved, but not yet implemented in 2.6.9
2.6.9 is supposed to be a stable version, but one of the bug fixes for open menus i believe caused lots of problems with the selection boxes.
i am currently using 2.6.8, 2.6.9, and 2.7 all installed on my Windows XP platform with very little problems so far.
i still have the bug with the selection boxes in 2.6.9 but you can work around that by using the mouse wheel to select.
the email i received from bug-zilla stated to look for an updated version after the new bundle is reviewed.

This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but
we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed. It should be
solved in the next software version. You may want to check for a software
upgrade.
