i get the impression there is something quite wrong in your users folder but luckily should be easy to fix :
Just DELETE the whole Gimp user folders: if gimp was installed correctly it will RECREATE the folder at next start
(if doesn't then is better unistall everything, but i believe not the case )

about your last screenshoot, not sure that gimp in Mac create a entry in application support , i doubt because in windows or linux does nothing equivalent

I corrected my message , i mean delete the whole Gimp user folder...NOT the whole user folder !!

please delete only the gimp folder there then restart gimp, close , and check if gimp recreated the folder (as should)

Is this the one under Users/homefolder/library/applicationsupport/Gimp? If so, then yes, delete this folder. If GIMP is installed correctly, when you reboot GIMP, it will recreate all the folders automatically.

ok, done that... and this is it now (I have added back in the script folder and the plug-in folder, plus the two scripts I have and gmic (which is still not showing in Gimp, and there's no solution on the horizon).

Is it of concern that there are no brushes, patterns, gradients in there?

Hey, maybe I never installed Gimp correctly in the first place? Funny thing is that I don't remember installing Gimp myself, and I bought this mac about two years ago; I assumed that Gimp was pre-loaded. Gimp works ok, otherwise.

What GIMP version is it? Can you check the help button and see?

It's time to update, many bugfixes since 2.6.6. So, are you interested in starting all over with a fresh install of GIMP 2.6.11?

Yes, in fact it's downloading right this minute...

Now I should wait. Do I uninstall old Gimp first?

That's a good question, I'm in unchartered waters with Macs. My gut says installing the new will overwrite the old, but my mind says find the old and remove it first. It will be wherever programs install on a Mac (much different than Windows or Linux). I'm going to look at some of Akky's screenshots to see what I can gather about the install location.

Looks like a folder named Resources, or it could be Library, let's start by looking in those two locations for the old gimp.

I'd save the brushes and anything I have added...scripts etc...and then install over the top of over the old......it should go straight over the top without losing those but I'd rather be sure...

I expect many different problems manifest as GMIC simply not appearing at the bottom of the Filters menu, but it's worth making sure you're running the latest Gimp for Mac (2.6.11 from http://gimp.lisanet.de/). I was running 2.6.7, which silently failed.

A good test for any problematic GMIC installation is to try running gmic_gimp directly from Terminal (doesn't have to be run from the correct installation directory, but putting it there is a start):

$ ~/Library/Application\ Support/Gimp/plug-ins/gmic_gimp

If you get something like this:

dyld: Library not loaded: /tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libgimpui-2.0.0.dylib
  Referenced from: ~/Library/Application Support/Gimp/plug-ins/gmic_gimp
  Reason: no suitable image found.  Did find:
   /tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libgimpui-2.0.0.dylib: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
Trace/BPT trap

then your problem could be the same I had. GIMP 2.6.7 has libraries for PPC and i386:

$ file /tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libgimpui-2.0.0.dylib
/tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libgimpui-2.0.0.dylib: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
/tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libgimpui-2.0.0.dylib (for architecture i386):   Mach-O dynamically linked shared library i386
/tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libgimpui-2.0.0.dylib (for architecture ppc7400):   Mach-O dynamically linked shared library ppc

but the latest gmic_gimp wants libraries for i386 and x86_64:

$ file ~/Library/Application\ Support/Gimp/plug-ins/gmic_gimp
~/Library/Application Support/Gimp/plug-ins/gmic_gimp: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
~/Library/Application Support/Gimp/plug-ins/gmic_gimp (for architecture i386):   Mach-O executable i386
~/Library/Application Support/Gimp/plug-ins/gmic_gimp (for architecture x86_64):   Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64

GIMP 2.6.11 has the architectures you want (same command as above, but after upgrading GIMP):

$ file /tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libgimpui-2.0.0.dylib
/tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libgimpui-2.0.0.dylib: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
/tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libgimpui-2.0.0.dylib (for architecture i386):   Mach-O dynamically linked shared library i386
/tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libgimpui-2.0.0.dylib (for architecture x86_64):   Mach-O 64-bit dynamically linked shared library x86_64

Hope that helps someone.

Please in the name of god all help me.

I have the latest version of MAC OS and GIMP OS, and I want to get G'MIC. The "Latest Available Download" downloads this file entitled "gmic_1.4.9.5.tar", and upon double clicking it, you open it to a folder. In the folder, there is nothing that resemebls a file with the name "gmic.gimp". There is the following:

AUTHORS
config.h.in
configure
COPYING
gmic_link_install.pl
INSTALL
install-sh
Makefile.in
man
missing
README
src

"man" and "src" are Folders.

In "Man" is:
gmic.1.gz

and In "src" is:
CImg.h
gmic_bashcompletion.cpp
gmic_bashcompletion.sh
gmic_def.gmic
gmic_def.h
gmic_gimp.cpp
gmic_in_script.scm
gmic_use_lib.cpp
gmic.cpp
gmic.h
Makefile

SOoooooo Yes I am MUY Confused....YOu are all my last help...Literally, this is so stressful

For starters, you've downloaded the source code that requires compiling for Linux. Try downloading the package for your OS.

Now that's where I can't answer or help. I'm not familiar with Mac. Which one did Akky mention?
