It's mother's day in Sweden this weekend. And I have a terrible cold. Combine the two and this is the result.

Sorry to hear that Griatch, but hope you still have a great weekend with your mother. It's Memorial weekend for us (Memorial Day being Monday). Brother's still somewhere in Iraq (he needs to retire from the Reserves) and he's still on my thoughts as well as those who have payed the ultimate price.

Dads do too, my kids are all either grown with families or in college and I still keep a file folder of all the stuff they made in grade school. For that matter good teachers do too. Our Sunday school girls all made little bracelets one year, twine and macaroni, looked less than fashionable, but one of my girls made one for me and tied it around my wrist. "This is for you so you won't forget me" she said. But she didn't understand that no good teacher EVER forgets their kids. Her mom was/is..... negligent and a bad mother so the girl really didn't have anyone to care. We were at a yard sale last month and one of the ones we went to was her mom's house, although I didn't remember at the time that was her house. We asked about Summer (the girl's name), her mom just said 'she ran off' with no emotion in her voice. She didn't care, even then, 5 years after Summer made the bracelet I still have it on the shift arm in the car, and her own mother didn't care. I wanted to shake the woman and cry, so I just left. Sorry this turned into a rant, it was meant to be a short reply about dads.

Thanks for the kind words people! Yes, my mum did like it, claims this little guy ranks almost as high as one of her other favourite characters, my green-skinned troll-girl.
I'm feeling better - or rather I had to, since today I not only helped to host a guest researcher for implementing a new database system I'm part of developing, I've also held a two hour long evening lecture about exoplanets and life in the universe ... I need to get some rest now I think.

Sad to hear about the negligent mother, but still a speck of light that she must have liked you as a teacher enough to make a gift for you. If she ran off, maybe she's better off, who knows (one can only hope).

Maybe, but she was one of those young girls that had a shape that turned guy's heads and a face that equaled it. I'm afraid she will end up going down the wrong road, but maybe she will be better as you say.

It looks great Griatch. I am glad your mom liked it. Get better I have sinus cold now. Blah!! The coughing is the worse.
