Hi All,

I'm new here. I'm a software developer with about 11.5 years of professional experience. I've used Gimp on and off over the years and started using it more recently for images on my blog or in tweets.

Last night I need to generate an image with predefined text to fill a certain resolution, 1200x628, with just as much text of a specified font size as would fit. I managed to crash Gimp with my approach of just pasting probably too much text.

I've decided to go with an SVG approach, but I realised this forum existed and since there's a 1 post requirement I thought I'd throw it out to you guys.

Looking forward to learning from you all.

SVG is always a good option as it will let you set resolution upon opening..........

Hi dalevross.
Gimp is totally ram dependent. I would check Preferences > environment and see how much resources are allocated to Gimp.

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.
