level_0: I like them all. I've not tried Nidhogg's tutorial yet, but I've done similar things and I know it's hard to find the right input images. I've used DoctorMacro quite a lot - it's a site that shares high resolution classic Hollywood star images and movie stills. They are generous with their policies and some of the images are very good quality. Mostly black-and-white, but some colour ones.

level_0: The colouring on that one is beautiful, like handpainted. Did it take a lot of tries to get it right? I'm almost nervous about trying the tutorial now, everyone has got such great looking results.

Nidhogg's tutorial is very well explained: it is not limited to indicating the steps and parameters, but it explains the choice of filters and the choice of parameters.
For my level 0, what really slowed me down was figuring out how to match the outcome with a background. I would have liked to have found the kind of pattern used by ilzaf in his thread "Photo To Comic" but in desperation, I did with what was on my PC, which forced me to sort in folders where I don't go often ...
