My sons Graduation present

Well my wife and i decided Cody needed another laptop with more power.
So we have this little used computers shop right down the road named Aspens.
We went over there and browsed around and found a nice Sony with 2 gigs of RAM and 190 gigs of hard drive space.
Built in wireless, dual core processor, and a built in cam.

Final price - just 275 dollars.
But i talked the guy down to 225 :lol

Only set back is the platform installed is Vista but that can be changed if Cody wants to.
Right away he hooked up his Rockford Fozgates (speakers) and he just loves the new system.

Not bad price for this system Rod; your son will be happy. Should have an external video out for a good monitor so down the line he can use it for GIMP too (LCD laptop monitors just not good enough for editing imo).

I do all of my images on an LCD screen. I use a Spyder II to get my colors right. I've been kind of caught up lately, so I really need to calibrate the screen on this laptop.

My laptop is 8 years old. I'd like to get a new one but I can't justify it or afford it. The one I have, other than being a bit slow still does the job. I saw a gateway, 2.4 mhz dual core, 4 gig ram and 500 gig HD for $399 that tempted me but until mine just flat dies I can't get a new one.

i thought it died last week but I could still reinstall Windows and while I was at it I put linux on so I can boot into either one. I think I'm stuck with mine for a few years.

I had an old Monorail for he longest time and it just would not die until lightning killed it that is.
One day i went to use it and the start button would just wriggle around.Took it to a repairman and he said the mother board was fried probably lightning.
Probably needed a new switch and would have worked another 10 years :lol

Well, see, I guess part of my problem is that I have two degrees in electronics and I fix what breaks unless I'm too lazy. So things have to be pretty far gone before I scrap them.

Monorails were always a favorite of mine. I did some serious accounting software on them! Totally unstoppable!
