Again installing plugin script or what else , in the best way, is absolutly the same for linux Win and Mac

Because there no any need to know where are the gimp folders, but only to know that the Gimp Preferences are in the EDIT menu

Then you create new folder i.e. a folder for gmic, where you like you enter in preferences , look for "folder" and add a its path

This also solve many problem to install plugin as Gmic that contain more then a single file to install, have similar plugins in their own folder make easier to update them and avoid possible conflict.

I mean may even be speciphic problem on MAC is hard to know there are so much different gimp versions for mac, and different version of mac, but be sure to have installed right help to solve

I've actually read on that link that others are like me and cant get it going...I'm using the latest operating system on a late model intel iMac.tons of processor speed and ram so its almost got me beat..it just doesnt download properly for a start. I honestly think its glitchy for mac. Lets hope I am wrong though. I had the older versiongoing but its gone now and I did actually rid myself of all my old GIMP stuff and have begun with a fresh install and gathering of some favorite scripts etc. I'll go back and read it again. Thanks for your help folks I really appreciate you all.

Akky sorry my reply was to theoric.

In pratice:

did you have installed Gmic before ?
from where come the gimp you use ... could you remember from where you downloaded ?

ok this version is from Lisanet. In the past I have downloaded it from gimp.org as well and also from the open sourceforge.
Does that make a difference??? I'm interested to know. Thanks ;) It was looking like I had an older version installed but it may have been just sitting there with me not even knowing what it was on GIMP in the package contents.

Finally, I've released today the last version of G'MIC for the 1.4.9.x serie. Next version will be 1.5.0.0 and will probably not be released before several months (at least this is what I hope).
Here is the changelog : http://www.flickr.com/groups/gmic/discu ... 772302417/

Now, I need to rest a little bit, this G'MIC thing has taken so much of my time since almost 3 years :)

Hope you'll enjoy it.

Thanks David; already saw that on Flickr. If anyone deserves the rest, you sure do. Thanks for providing both a very useful tool and also for all the great support for it over the past few years. I still even use the ol' GREYCStoration itself quite often for a few artistic renders. :)

Thanks Lyle. By the way, what would have become G'MIC without all the work you did *here*, on GimpChat and on the Flickr forums, on testing, creating filters, finding bugs, proposing suggestions, experimenting filters again and again.. ?
This G'MIC release is a bit special for me because I feel this one allows me to reach a kind of personal achievement today. For two years, I always had a lot of ideas to improve (and break ;)) the G'MIC interpreter and processing engine. Right now, I'm really satisfied with the whole thing, and I wouldn't want to make huge modifications again (except building new filters of course, but this can be done without a need for updates).

This project has been something that has been started from scratch and has been built slowly (reaching almost 30000 lines of code today). So, really I'd like to thank you all, Lyle, Mahvin, PhotoComiX, Tom Keil, Karo, Zonder, and all other contributors and users, for your support since these two years, when I started to put the first lines of code. You have been a constant source of inspiration and motivation, and G'MIC would not exist as it is without your help (and we have a fantastic mascot !). The only thing I hope now is that the GIMP staff will provide some compatibility layers to make G'MIC working smoothly with the next GIMP versions. I'm a bit afraid about that, but who knows ? :)

I too hope the developers don't break this one David. Partha has compiled it for 64-bit 2.7.3 and it works great and if 2.7.3 is suppose to be a reflection of 2.8, then I do have hope because G'MIC really puts GIMP on steroids and I can't tell you how much interest I've run into from other forums not just the GIMP ones. If a guru who knows photoshop ever comes through, G'MIC should be ported to PS; it's that much of a game changer. Appreciate the comments David, but I'm just an enthusiastic user. Just wish I was a coder and could have helped more on that in, but fortunately, Tom and PC along with a few others are. :)

Just saw that at Flickr David. Very happy with the few new features like the bigger preview display for instance and the few new presets. Again, thanks for your gift to the GIMP guys like me. :)

awesome job David!

Something you should add, if your going to install it system wide in Ubuntu, you have to type something special into Terminal to allow access to Root Folders... and I already forgot what it was

NICE! thanks David. :)

How come the program will not run my gimp faves anymore?
It calls them into the menu but will not preview the presets in that file.
It says the commands are wrong, or written wrong?
Is there a different set of commands to call presets in the new code?
How do i make it so GMIC uses my old faves file?

Hi dear GimpChat people !
I'm very happy to announce the final release of the 1.5.0.3 version of the G'MIC plug-in for GIMP,
available at :
http://gmic.sourceforge.net/gimp.shtml

I hope you will enjoy this version, and I hope I won't have to work on it too much for the next days (I'm quite busy, I would be very disappointed if too much bugs appear :)).

Cheers.

:wh Thanks David!

Is Naggobot's filters a new addition? I don't recall seeing it before but may have overlooked it.

This is Naggobot's Make Squiggly on a layer of an image I have.

Yes, Naggobot's (aka Arto) is a new filter contributor who has set up his own filter channel. This is really nice to see people involving more and more in the project.

Just installed it David; again thanks a heap. Just tried it on my boy (cat Socks) and really do like the result. Appreciate the additional controls for this preset too. :)
