Karo advised to just use MacPorts to install GMIC. Finally managed to get that booted up. Partha's McGimp only has 2.8.3 and the other link on GMIC website leads to a download of version 2.7.5. Fair warning to Mac users who use MacPort to install GMIC; make sure you remove all the OLD gmic files and exec from plugins folder before activating or it won't work properly.
